The Story Behind the Net
Why The IYNW Group Exists
The IYNW Group was inspired by the biblical account found in Luke 5:1–11.
After working throughout the night and catching nothing, Simon Peter and the other fishermen were tired, discouraged, and ready to put away their nets. Jesus instructed Peter to return to the water, launch out into the deep, and let down his nets again.
The same boat, the same net, and the same fisherman produced a very different result when used with renewed direction.
Although this account is rooted in Scripture, its central experience is universal. Many people know what it feels like to work hard and still come away empty. Sometimes the answer is not to abandon what we have. It is to see it differently, use it more effectively, receive new direction, or move beyond the familiar shore.
For each person or business, "the deep" may look different. It may be launching an idea, rebuilding a business, rediscovering purpose, navigating a major transition, forming stronger partnerships, or finally acting upon a vision that has remained on the shore for too long.
What Is Your Net?
Your net is more than your professional network.
It includes your gifts and talents, knowledge and experience, ideas and opportunities, relationships and partnerships, services and resources, and tools, strategies, and systems.
These are the things already available to you—or the connections you may need—to accomplish something meaningful.
When those elements are disconnected, underdeveloped, or used in the wrong place, even tremendous effort can produce limited results. When they are strengthened and brought together with clarity and purpose, possibilities become action and action can produce meaningful growth.
